Moler E.S. Site Based Council

The Moler Site Based Council (SBC) works collaboratively to meet the academic and non-academic needs of our students. SBC members include representation from Moler, Driving Park Recreation Center, Head Start, The United Way, After School All-Stars and members from the South High School Alumni Association. The goal of our work is to enhance the academic and social emotional environment for all students at Moler.

Some of the initiatives made possible by the Moler SBC are:

Moler Market

The Moler Market is a parent store that was started as an effort to incentivize parents for becoming more involved in their child’s education. Parents/guardians are able to earn points for various activities that involve their child’s education (volunteering at school, checking their child’s homework, returning emergency cards, attending Parent/Teacher conferences). Points are used to “buy” items in the store.

Blessings in a Backpack/Food Pantry

Moler houses a food pantry that is funded by a grant through the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. Families are able to access the pantry on an emergency basis by meeting with the school social worker or school counselor. Moler currently has 30 students in our Blessings in a Backpack program. These students take a backpack of food home to their families every Friday afternoon.

Fresh Produce Drops

Moler Elementary receives 4 pallets of fresh fruits and vegetables delivered the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month. Produce is available to anyone in the community meeting eligibility requirements.

Laundromat

Moler recently installed a washer and dryer in the building that families can use in exchange for volunteering at the school while they are doing their laundry.

Bulldog Superstore

The Bulldog Superstore was developed and is run by 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students. Students earn points by coming to school on time and wearing a uniform. They are able to shop in the store once every two weeks with their points.

Top Dog Party

Every month, a celebration is held for students who did not receive any discipline referrals for the month. Events range from extra recess to dance parties, staff versus student basketball games, to visits from the zoo.
